Water’s Ways
As an artist, I have always been interested in exploring and crossing the boundaries between mediums. When I am painting, I experiment with ways to incorporate sculptural elements, sometimes layering canvases and moulding them, other times adding copious amounts of plaster to the wooden boards or wax into the oils.
With my photography, varying the shutter speeds, frame rate and movements of the camera allows me to collect colours and textures from whatever is in my immediate surroundings. Juxtaposing them, I paint with my camera.
Water’s Ways is rooted in the familiar painting traditions of impressionism, expressionism, surrealism and dadaism. Those images which seem to echo an underwater world will take on a magical note when printed on silver brushed aluminium.
